Children can hone their weaving skills with this fantastic inexpensive Choosy paper basket. Promote fine motor skills while helping children recognize patterns and problem-solving techniques. Incorporate Choosy to help promote healthy behaviors. For example, “Choosy loves putting fresh fruit in his basket! What’s your favorite fruit?”

Step 1
Cut construction paper into strips. You will need a total of 15 strips (this basket used strips that were 1” each).
Step 2
Place 4 pieces of cut construction paper on a flat surface. Then begin weaving in the opposite direction. You will need 8 pieces of cut construction paper for this step.
Step 3
Fold the sides up.
Step 4
Glue 2 pieces of construction paper strips together and begin weaving the sides (use tape or glue to hold the sides together while you weave). You will need 6 pieces of cut construction paper for this step.
Step 5
Fold the top pieces of the basket over the woven sides and glue (or tape) them down so the sides do not come apart.
Step 6
Add a handle.
Step 7
Fill your basket with handmade crinkled paper.
